I found his books and movies quite interesting, although some statements seem a bit far fetched to me. But it was fascinating to hear him explain Esekiel’s experiences mentioned in the Bible were actually a meeting with aliens. Of course, they would have seem to him like Gods and angels, if they took him up in their spaceship and he was watching the Earth from up there. Just imagine what medieval people would think if they faced our technology. They’d think we are gods to, or at least not humans as them.
Who, Esekiel??

  1. He was exposed as a fraud back in the 70s.

  2. He’s a nutter.

  3. I think he took drugs and experienced a “trip”

  4. I think its a lot more probable than Jesus Christ and Mohamed
but then again a lot of things are more probable..

  5. It was an interesting idea….but totally without evidence.

If there were a major attempt to genetically engineer humans, it would be pretty obvious in our DNA at this point.

  6. I would hesitate to use the word theory with this conjecture.

  7. I do find his stuff interesting and I enjoy his ideas, but I do not believe him since many of claims have been proven false.
The idea of aliens or time travelers causing religions is possible. If you look at the cargo cult then it shows that such things are plausable.

  8. He’s a very entertaining author.
I can see why they used to sell his paperbacks in airport lounges, they’re an engaging read, and a great way to pass some time.
When I was a teenager, and blessed with an overabundance of imagination, and nothing to do with it, his books kept me hugely amused.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become more cynical, and now I find his books amusing, but not flight of fancy material.
You’re right about medieval folk. They’d be overawed by us. Actually, people from the 1950′s would find what we take for granted pretty awe inspiring.
    Technology, it’s great.

  9. Von Däniken is a hack. He’s a racist, to boot. “Brown people can’t build things” is what he built his “reputation” on.

  10. Watch the movie ‘Stargate’.

  11. To bad most all religions believe we are the only planet with life in all the Universe.

And to again wonder why did all the stars have things we have around our sun also planets that is.

And for early human life to even think as Erich did would have had his head chopped off.

By intelligent man the best God could do in creating life.

  12. He does ask some questions that have not been answered. Some of his ideas are a stretch.
But- I did read his book “Chariot of the Gods” way back in the 70′s I believe. It was that book that pointed me in the right direction. I began to pay quiet a bit of attention to ‘who we are’ and ‘how we got here’. Once my mind was open to the idea that we may not have come from a monkey ( thats what they used to teach)- I eventually found Jesus.
I think Von Daniken’s books are good for non-believers. You kow- “all things work for the good of those who love God”.

  13. Honey_to . . .

Science, in the attempt to show life’s origin, have run out of time . . . it is becoming more clear, there is simply not enough time on this rock to have evolved what life we see here and the many times it ‘sprung up’. (cataclysmic wipe outs number at least 12 times in our short history) Each time, life just appears again!

So it is no wonder that science has begun to look off world for a beginning . . . and this is where science and Christians can agree!

    Agree, I tell you!

Yes, the origin of life began off world . . .

Science says, “it was an alien”
Christians say, “it was an ‘alien’ named God”

Now we go about proving it . . .

  14. He is, put simply, a fraud and a liar. He manufactured evidence, misrepresented information, and manufactured some of his “history” out of thin air. He got my attention years ago, but when I looked into his claims I found out how empty they were.

  15. zero proof, or even evidence.

  16. proved overrated. but, in the process of ,,searching,, for evidence of aliens landing on here, he found some pretty interesting caves and pre-historical paintings there.
